Free high resolution photo of a killdeer bird guarding her eggs. This picture shows a female killdeer atop a nest with four spotted eggs. Killdeers are very recognizable by their orange eyes and striped neck. This bird was making a horrible screeching noise as we stumbled upon her nest. There were make killdeers nearby doing the broken wing act to distract us, but unfortunately I didn’t get a photo of them. Picture taken at Chatfield State Park in Littleton, Colorado.
