Free high resolution photo of cross bedded sandstone. Cross bedding is layering within a rock where some layers are at an angle to the primary plane of the rock. It is formed when certain layers are either uplifted or laid down at an angle (as in a sand dune) and then eroded. Future layers are then laid down so that they are at a different angle. This picture shows the layers of sandstone with the texture of the rock. Great background, wallpaper, or texture image for a website, blog, computer, phone, scrapbooking or Photoshop.
